Hikingharborz is a capital protection advisory firm headquartered in Mombasa, Kenya. We were founded in 2014 by practitioners who had spent the preceding decade inside larger financial institutions and observed a consistent gap: high-net-worth Kenyan families had access to investment products but rarely to structured, independent advice on how to protect what they had accumulated. The firm was built to address that gap directly. We serve a deliberately narrow client base — individuals and family offices whose primary objective is capital continuity rather than aggressive growth — and we maintain a team of fewer than twenty advisors so that every client relationship is managed by a named senior professional, not a rotation of associates. Our work spans four disciplines: risk management, insurance wrapper advisory, wealth structuring, and ongoing fiduciary counsel. Over the past ten years we have completed more than 180 structuring engagements across property, business, and financial asset classes.
Every Hikingharborz engagement begins with a full diagnostic of the client's existing arrangements — legal, financial, and insurance — before any recommendation is made. We operate on fee-only terms, accepting no commission from product providers, which means our advice reflects our assessment of your interests rather than a sales target. Our advisory process is deliberately slow by industry standards: we take between four and eight weeks for the initial diagnostic phase, because errors of omission in capital protection have compounding consequences. We work in Mombasa and across Kenya, and we conduct remote engagements via secure video for clients based in Nairobi, Kisumu, and internationally. We are not a law firm, we do not manage investment portfolios on a discretionary basis, and we do not underwrite insurance. These are not gaps in our service — they are deliberate constraints that keep our advice independent.
